Ginkgo Analytics finished first work package in Project KITT4SME

Ginkgo Analytics has completed Phase 1 of the KITT4SME EU project by publishing the KITT4SME AI requirements report. This report provides a catalogue of functional and non-functional requirements that should be considered by the developers when building the KITT4SME platform, in order to allow for a broad uptake by SMEs operating in the area of production. The report is based on a series of interviews, which we designed and conducted with the four participating SMEs. Based on the information we received in these interviews, we gathered and derived requirements that we then evaluated, extended and generalised, using our expertise in implementing AI use cases for clients.

AI requirement domains

The report will be available for download on the project website of KITT4SME.

The next step will be to develop one of the AI modules that will be part of the KITT4SME platform. The AI-based shop-floor anomaly detection system (SADS) provided by Ginkgo Analytics will serve as a crucial tool for at least one of the KITT4SME pilot use-cases.

About KITT4SME

KITT4SME (platform-enabled KITs of arTificial intelligence FOR an easy uptake by SMEs) is a Horizon 2020 project funded by the European Union. 18 European partners are working together in this 4 years project which is mainly based on open source technology.

The overall goal of KITT4SME is to ease AI uptake in European SMEs and mid-caps by providing them with scope-tailored and industry-ready hardware, software and organizational kits for the introduction of AI into their production systems. This will be achieved through the development of a new digital platform grounding on the digital marketplace RAMP (Robotics and Automation MarketPlace). Seamless adoption of customised kits will be enabled by the FIWARE infrastructure that is able to combine factory systems, IoT, wearable devices, robots, cobots and other data sources. The functional platform modules will be capable of triggering data-driven value creation. AI modules that offer solutions for specific use cases will be added step-by-step by AI developers as well as SMEs. In addition, services and validation will be extended by open calls.

KITT4SME architecture

A network of Digital Innovation Hubs, three of which are represented in the consortium, ensure that the KITT4SME solution will be distributed to a wide audience of companies across Europe.

The KITT4SME project is divided into four phases:

  • Phase 1 – Stakeholders’ needs and platform specifications definition
  • Phase 2 – Standard-driven platform setup
  • Phase 3 – Large-scale piloting
  • Phase 4 – Effective AI uptake in SMEs by leveraging DIHs
